SALARY RANGE: $30.00 – $35.00 (based on experience)
FUNCTIONS
Perform construction and maintenance tasks including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials. Layout and install trim. Repair and maintain existing structures. Work within a team or independently as required
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Report to the Carpentry – Production Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Training
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Courses in mechanical drawing and blueprint reading are considered helpful
- Valid Working at Heights Certification (Ontario), WHMIS, Mandatory Worker Training and material handling training would be an asset
Experience
- 3 – 5 years working as a carpenter/skilled labourer
Availability
- Must be available to work Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Weekends as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches
- Measure, cut, and shape various materials using tools
- Construct and install building frameworks, structures and fixtures
- Repair damaged structures
- Maintain a safe and organized worksite, following safety procedures and building regulations
- Perform finish carpentry
- Communicate professionally with clients and team members
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Education and experience: HIgh school diploma or equivalent is required, a formal apprenticeship will be considered
- Technical skills: Knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, and materials, proficiency with tools, and the ability to read technical documents and blueprints would be considered an asset
- Physical requirements: MUST be in good physical condition with stamina, dexterity and the ability to stand, climb, and lift heavy objects
- Soft skills: Strong problem solving, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, good communication skills, flexibility to work in various conditions
